Apparently it translates as ‘Black Moon Over Soho’ and doesn’t carry the same connotations as it would in English.

Yes, definitely Black Moon Over Soho. If you wanted to say Black Man’s Moon over Soho in German you would need to say something like “Moon of the Black Man over Soho”. Looking forward to the next book. Martin.

I devoured your books (both of them)!
Being a native german speaker (from Austria), I can tell you that it does, indeed translate as ‘Black Moon over Soho’ – it carries no connotation linked to people, African or otherwhise.
‘Black Man’s Moon over Soho’ would be ‘Des Schwarzen (Mannes) Mond über Soho’ or ‘Eines Schwarzen (Mannes) Mond über Soho’.
Black is just a (non
)colour in most contexts in German, only offensive when used speaking about people.Just pre-ordered Whispers Under Ground and very excited,

Hey, I´m German, too, and I can´t wait reading the second book. I got the first 4 days ago, and it was amazing. The covers are pretty cool here in Germany, a little different, but still similar, in difference than the American ones. Gonna get “Moon over Soho” at the first day, of course. Bye, me

Hello,
I thank my good furtune that I stumbled upon “Rivers of London” a few days ago.
After a few pages I thought I had found myself a new adiction, hoping that there once would be more stories about the honorable Constable Peter Grant, and I’m more than pleased to see exactly that.
I’m in the middle of the German version and I find the story hilarious and utterly wonderful, above all language-wise, and that’s a good thing considering that it’s “only German”. Can’t wait to read the full blow of your wit in its original glory in English…

I read the first book in german and I really liked it a lot. At the moment I am reading Moon over Soho in english and I like it even more.
Altough the translater made an excellent job, reading a book in the origin language is way better! So I learned that our word “kitsch” is used in english as well. Thanks for writing such great books! Are any book presentations and signings planned in the future, maybe in Germany?

Uhm well… if there isn’t any other connotation “SCHWARZ” would certainly be connected to race in German as well. As usual I don’t get the urge editors in Germany have to needlessly “expand” titles…
